Course Description

Coaching is focused on the individual: helping them achieve real world changes and deal with practical issues. It’s different from training in that it is much more flexible and responsive to those needs and cuts straight to finding practical solutions.

This coaching programme is designed for individuals seeking additional support and guidance, particularly during times of change or transition. It is especially beneficial for those facing imminent changes or who have recently experienced significant shifts in their personal or professional lives.

The situation where a woman is going off on Maternity Leave, then coming back to a role, having had her baby is one such example.
Women can experience many mixed emotions as well as hormonal changes and having the opportunity to talk to a professional coach, who is not close to the personal or work environment, has been proved to help transition take place more smoothly.

All coaching is confidential.

Our Process

Coaching is driven by a series of confidential conversations, leading towards an identified goal. The process we will follow looks like this:

  1. A first meeting between the coach and the individual to build the relationship and give the individual the opportunity to share what they would like to get from the programme. Both would contract and agree how often they would meet, overall objective for the coaching, and how they will communicate.
  2. Every coaching relationship is likely to be different, and conversations will be led by the person being coached. It may be that their views and objectives change completely while on Maternity Leave, and the coach will support this.
  3. During sessions we will be sensitive to the needs of the individual. Topics explored may be e.g. Pre-Maternity Leave: How they feel about leaving the organisation? What's important to them? What are their current goals/objectives? Post Maternity Leave: How do they feel about returning? What has changed? What are the challenges they have? What are their new objectives? What's important to them?
  4. Meetings should take place regularly – often every 2, 3 or 4 weeks. Flexibility is important, and these sessions would most often take place via Microsoft Teams.
  5. The GROW model will be used for coaching (GOAL; REALITY; OPTIONS; WILL), though it may be that in some sessions the coach takes the role of Trusted Listener or Mentor. The main objective is that the individual gets real benefit from the sessions and feels supported by the Organisation and the Coach.

This Programme will end when the coachee feels they have achieved the support they personally benefit from to enable them to feel comfortable back in the workplace.
